Loved it until...

I was really really digging this song until 1:44, I don't think the midi/nintoish/atari kind of lead is the right one for this.
Since the song sounds very proffesional that bit kind of throws it off for me.

I really liked the part at 2:23 where it kind of goes all sane with you and doesn't try to blow your mind.. Well only till 3:07 wich is coming in with a big freak'n bang LOVE IT!

But then again at 3:51 you bring back the lead but a bit distorted, it sounds better but still not satisfying to me atleast.
Don't get me wrong i love these kind of sounds and leads but i just don't think they really fit with the rest of the song.

Well i do want to see you keep doing your stuff 'cause you're definitely one of the best around Newgrounds!

And also please checkout my songs and maybe review them i can really use the feedback on mastering my songs!

TiGeR responds:

Brilliant review! Glad you liked the song and thanks for the C&Cs :)!

Well, adding a game-ish touch to my dnb songs is one of my characteristics I guess (since I always do that, actually it's a quite sub-concious action by me xD). But I see what you mean.

Anyway, I'll definetly check out your songs later and try to give some advice. To tell you the truth I'm not very good at mastering myself, as I'm still learning about it. You should ask someone better in my honest opinion. xKore, mr-jazzman, Bjra etc etc, these guys really know what they're talking about! ;)

Thanks for the review though!

Great stuff!

I'm loving the melody! And the energy is pretty awesome although i do think the intro could've been a bit longer and it felt too compressed but that could just be me.

I'm loving all the strange noises hearing through everything and the synth that startted before 2 min was also pretty nice going over in the higher pitched/octaved synths.
Yet it still sounds a bit too compressed to me, it's pretty great!

Please cheack out some of my dnb songs aswell!
Ranter,

alertG responds:

no it is too compressed. i might release a new version to improve that. i hear the percussion is a little compressed and some synths could be brought out more.

EDIT: oh yeah put new version up.

thanks for your review!

Dude!

This sounds very pro although it's just a little piece i think it's wonderfull!

Kind of the same issue

I really really liked the song it's got a great mastered sound!
What i also loved where the little DnB breaks you put in.

But the thing is that you still need to flow better.

I'd compress your voice so that it sounds more blend in with the rest of the song. Also try to change your flow, what i mean is that you generally sound the same while going through the song.

For instance take Eminem, Even if you don't like him, he does has his lines different then the others. One line is spit higher in tone then the other 2 or some lines faster after each other.
Try doing stuff like 4 sentences in the time where you would have 2.

Make variations!

But other then that i like it!
Keep going!

Pretty good

Well, Musically.
You really need to work on your flow, though you did say it sucked i'd say try to work on it.
Maybe you're better at faster beats 100-110 bpm?

Also i didn't really get when the chorus came in, maybe double up your voices or some choir in the background that would make it sound a bit different and better imo.

But great stuff don't stop!
Also if you'd like check out my stuff i got some Hiphop and DnB if you're into that!

Ranter,

Luke responds:

Yeah, I noticed my flow isn't good in this one... In comparison to my other tracks anyway. It was a hard beat for me to work with I guess.
Faster beats do work better for me without a doubt, Fucked up Mind and Emo Murder Cru really show that. If you have the time and want to check them out, please do and leave me some input on those ones as well. I take all criticism into thought and try to use it to make my future tracks better. Thank you.

Awesome but..

It seriously lacks some heavy bass.
I think that if you put some cerberus bass or something beneath it it would kick ass even more.

I mean i love the drums the cymbals are different than any dnb song i've ever heard but it did what was right in this song so good job on that.

Awesome composition too bad it lacks bass!!

Also if you'd like check out some of my stuff! I've startted making dnb since a short while now!

Ik ben al wakker maar bedankt!

Though i can obviously speak dutch i'm going to keep it in English!

I have to admit that this is very dreamy and very relaxing.
Although it feels too short!
Might be because i normally don't listen to ambient but i got distracted by the dutch title of the song =p

Anyway's good job and keep making music!

Dude...

I've listened to hiphop all my life now and really this is amazing the best old skool hiphop i know really.

You make the best songs to spit on!
If i where you i'd send this to all artists out of my area and see if they'd like to buy it you might end up being a paid producer!

Also what program do you use ?
I've created some songs aswell hiphop and drum and bass but i never get the sounds i really want.
Could you review them and tell me where to improve on ? It would make a huge deal for me!

The bass is awesome!

But personally think that the drums suck, sounds cheap somehow the kick is very blunt wich makes it a bit dull to hear imo!!!

But i'm loving the basslines!!!
I mean the bass is so heavy, that if it where to be played in the midst of New York it would cause a big bang so big not even Stephen Hawking could explain!!!

PERVOK responds:

Did you actually pay attention to what the bass drum pattern was? Or just the sound of it

liking it!

I like it alot it's just that the kick bothers me, it doesn't blend in very well since it's a pretty dead kick. very held back aswell.

If you'd change the kick it would sound better imo.

And you should check out my jazzy song aswell, it's called "Sway Hop" it's pretty much the same idea as this but with a trumpet.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

I tried many kicks, but the way this track sounds, it's much better off with one that's almost entirely bass. The beat just doesn't 'bump' right with a more present kick, and it kind of throws off the way the bass sounds with the sidechaining.

Anyway, thanks for reviewing. checkin out your stuff too...
