Only thing i'm missing..

Are a bunch of heavy metal guitars at some parts like from: 1:30 till: 1:56.

Apart from that, awesome job!

broove responds:

Guitars? I don't think it's a good idea.

I don't see it.

Apart from you using a couple of his samples i don't see how this is a joke to Skrillex, The guy is pretty fuckin good in making the style of dubstep he's doing now.

Also this song had no structure or setup at all it was just random glitching and bitcrushed voices.

Again i don't see the joke.

Orly now? And for the record I used no samples from Skrillex. The "YES OMG" is from the youtube cup stacking girl. If you thought I used a couple Skrillex samples then I did my job correctly.

Hmm It has potential.

It has some potential but the first thing i noticed where some of the drum samples being a bit basic. Maybe different sounding samples.

Second thing wich is an absolute NO in music is that i heared noise, wich means it was gained too much. Try lowering your samples/vst's/effects.

And one thing on the side, the heavy bass drop wasn't that heavy but that's always something to work on later!
I hope i could help you a bit.

Ranter,

QuietCorpse responds:

Well, thank you for the tips! If you listen to my new song, I've actually been working on my mastering. There is a little bit of static still, but not nearly as much. By the time I release my EP, I believe I'll have all of these problems solved. Any tips on bass drops that you could give me?

SICK

SICK SICK SICK SICK!!!!

This is so far one of the best dubstep songs on Newgrounds, great quality production that i myself are really jealous off! So good job on that.

Also I'm loving some of the breaks. Samples are great aswell.
Definitely a song i'll be listening to when working!

It has something of Skism aswell. You prolly already know him (but if you don't check him out!)
Oh btw where's that sample from ? it sounds really familiar but i can't get my finger on it.

Anyway's please make more dubstep songs like this!

Ranter,

kordelp responds:

Best on Newgrouds? I'm flattered. Glad you liked this song. The samples were ripped from a random documentary video I found online about volcanoes (then they were slowed slightly for effect).

I'm probably the only one but...

Don't get me wrong i've had the other one on my music player for so long now and i loved the heavy bass wobbles.
This was actually of all dubstep my favourite dubstep song, Above all other actuall dubstep producers (Excision, Flux, Cookie Monster, Datsik Etc,)

And when this got remastered i thought to myself; "Woah this must be even sicker than i thought. So i listened and everything sounded better until 0:38 Where the bass comes in. I was very dissappointed. I expected the bass to be heavier AND nastier but instead they became more, clean and not heavy at all.
They wobbles now just feel empty to me.

I still love this song but the first one still sounds better to me. I hope i could just show you with this comment that i'm not ranting this song or you at all.
But just giving a listeners opinion!

mr-jazzman responds:

Ay, you're not the only person; a lot of people have (and I haven't had to tell people "I GOT THE MEMO ALREADY!" in a while lol). What I was trying to do was get my bass to sound more professional, but in the process of sidechaining, I actually caused my bass to thin out. I still don't think it's as thin as people claim, but I can definitely tell it's thinner than the original. There's a lot I would change about this number...which is why I want to recreate it from scratch with what I know now. It's amazing how quickly and how fast I've changed. If you heard what I was producing now, you'd fall over! ;)

And P.S. I am an actual dubstep producer...just lettin you know to be careful how you phrase things. I'm not pro (*yet), but I definitely still produce! ;)

ONE thing that actually bothered..

The drums are pretty weak, i'd suggest turning the volume up, or add external kicks and snares with it!
You know doubling up your drums.

But the rest sounded pretty awesome, nothing to notice on the rest of the instruments!

And a different point is to learn some more about dnb transitions, the part where the drums come in where unsuspected and not really much of a drop.

So i hope i can help you improve and if you'd like please rate/review some of my songs aswell!

TheRealFool responds:

Well, first of all, I added some more bass drum and upped the velocity of my snares, making the beat dirtier and better.

The part where the drums come in is supposed to be a bit unexpected. My vision when I made it was that it was basically a drop, but instead of the expected climax, it's suddenly stripped to the core. Then the drum comes in a bit later to complete it.

Thanks for taking the time to review this, I'll be sure to check something of yours out :)

A few things.

First of all this should be in the dubstep section no dnb in the whole song at all. But i am not giving you a 7 because of that though!

The reason is that the piano and the snare sounds too midi'ish if you get my grip. They don't sound too realistic.

Also when the song is in further stage like around 00:52 the drums don't add much as the melody is louder than the drums.
And around 02:50 it's kind of the same thing drums are being overpowered by the melody.

But keep improving!

Ignyte responds:

yeah I know what you mean.

Currently im experimenting with a VST called CVPiano, which is a great improvement from FL studio's FLKeys plugin.
As for the drums, its kind of a hit'n'miss scenario atm with my speaker setup... I really need something better so I can make my levels correct and proportionate...

In time though, Thanks for reviewing!

Damn

This is perfect for an Hospitality mix record! Do you listen to some of the stuff they produce ? If not then listen to it!

On the other hand what program do you use ? And could you help me on some of my songs with some tips n stuff ??? I really want to produce this quality!

NaaaB responds:

Hello Ranter,
Yes I do listen to hospital records Its tipically the dnb I listen to :)
I use Fl and well, if you want some help with, it would be a pleasure ! Just Pm me.

Regards,
NaaaB

Too bad about Fable2!

Seriously i would love to have heared this when you have one of those flashbacks or when your still a child!

ZuneInc responds:

Actually i was thinkin just that when you complete the game or at some point you see a flashback showing all the main turning points of your life, when you are a child all the way to this what you are now. Or it couldve been in the intro, when you start the game, showing different parts of the game, action bits, what you can be and become and so on. Epic. Thanks for the comment :)

Awesome!

I like the fact that this is very dutch hardcore'ish! But also very Nintoic (am i making words up as i go ?) Anyway's i just think you need to work on the drums some more, they didn't really fill up as i was expecting them to be!
Try doubling up your kicks or add reverb to them!

15thDimension responds:

lol, the funny part is I had to try and keep the drums from overpowering everything else. xD

Fucking Rock&Roll.
